Summary: "Solid Hair Cutter"
What a difference this is from the 'homecut kit' I had before, went missing so I bought this upgrade. This new one is no louder than the homekit one. Of course the blades get hot but the motor stays cool and will probably perform well all day. Anyway, this unit really powers thru my beard that I keep at 1/16 and makes quick work of my hair at 1/8. It nearly jumped out of my hand the first time I turned it on. :)
Was expecting it to be white. It is a chrome metal base with a grey plastic cover. It is a bit 'industrial' in looks, not a fine quality piece. This matched the website, walh's, in description and packaging and was the best price I could find.
I paid for the expidited shipping, ordered Monday morning, got it Wednesday night-wasnt cheap but got here on time, kudos to the vendor.
I suppose all the #8500's are all the same, wish the vendor would clear up their offerings. I chose this one cause the weight was mislabeled and got me a better shipping rate. :)
Dinged it one star for the 'this is the picture, and this is what is in the box' looks of the item and also because of the unclear listing by the vendor.

Summary: "Good clippers; great service"
I've been cutting my own hair for years, the last few with a Wahl 8500. They're great clippers; I've never had any trouble and, as I said, it's been years (and I have short hair so I use them often). Recently, one of the plastic guards/combs broke (the one I always use, of course). This makes it somewhat less useful. But I just called the company directly, and in less than five minutes they had completely processed my order for a replacement guard. INCREDIBLY good customer service. It'll be years before I need replacement clippers, but I'll definitely buy from Wahl when I do.
